一般来说，最高级前面应该加定冠词the，但是当最高级用来表达" 非常"意思时，则不加定冠词，本句就是这样的情况，largest city 不可理解为最大的城市，而应该理解为"非常大的城市"。另外，:当最高级作表语，表达事物的本质时追答应省去定冠词。如:This is where the river is deepest. 这是河流的最深处。
